WHY can't a person sleep standing up?

The human body is too flexible for a person to stand perfectly still, like a statue. In order to maintain an upright position he needs constant work of his muscles (mainly leg muscles), as well as muscle receptors and vestibular apparatus, which signal even the smallest deviations from the upright position.

The brain ensures the coordination of such work, but it cannot do this during sleep, so a person who falls asleep standing up will immediately fall down. But even if you don't let him fall, say, by clutching him in a crowd, he will only sleep for a few minutes.

During one of the phases of sleep (called REM sleep), most of the skeletal muscles are almost completely relaxed. A person in such a state will simply "flow" to the floor.

WHY do legumes make us gurgle?

Indeed, the substances in legumes (oligosaccharides) become food for probiotic bacteria when they enter the intestines. As a result, the stomach begins to bloat, and sometimes with unwanted sounds and smells.

This effect can be reduced by soaking legumes before cooking.

Illustrative Animation of Human Heart Function ❤️

WHY should we sleep in the dark?

Here is a tiny organ, about one gram in weight, located in the center of the brain. Despite its small size, it plays a huge role in the body, regulating many of its vital functions.

For example, when dark, it produces serotonin, a substance called the pleasure hormone, or the happiness hormone. Melatonin is also produced only at night. This hormone normalizes blood pressure and glucose levels, one of the body's main sources of energy.

Only in total darkness does the brain produce hormones, the supply of which helps us function normally during the day.

When does the heart rest? ❤️

The heart starts beating four weeks after conception and doesn't stop until death. Throughout a person's life, it pumps an amount of blood equivalent to the volume that would flow through an open faucet at full capacity for 45 years. So, does it never need rest?

In fact, the heart rests between each heartbeat. Therefore, it's believed that the slower the pulse, the better. In cases of heart disease, doctors reduce the heart rate with medication.

An adult's heart beats around 72 times per minute.

🦠 How Antibodies attack Viruses in Our body?

In the image, we see an army🚨 of antibodies (IgG) attaching to the spike proteins of a SARS-CoV-2 virus 🦠—the virus that causes COVID-19. This spike protein, often called the S protein, is located on the surface of the 🦠 and is essential for the virus to enter our cells, as it allows the virus to bind to cell surface receptors, facilitating its entry into the cell.

When our antibodies bind to the spike proteins, they 'deactivate' the virus by essentially 'breaking its tool' —the hook-like mechanism 🪝 that allows it to invade our tissues.

🦶Skin fissures :- These are areas of dried, cracked skin that thicken over time. They appear as tiny cuts or cracks in the skin. The surrounding skin is usually thickened and calloused. They most often occur on very dry areas of the skin like the heels, fingertips, and between the toes.

🤔 Causes:- Cracked skin always begins as dry skin. As the skin becomes thick and calloused over time, it loses elasticity, and tiny cracks form. Left untreated, these cracks can deepen and lead to bleeding and infection.

❄️ Weather: Living in a cold, dry climate can be drying to your skin and raise your risk of skin fissures.

🫴 Overuse: Any area of skin that is continually used or washed is at a higher risk of becoming dry.

💦 Water exposure: Frequent exposure to water, such as handwashing, can dry out your skin and raise your risk of experiencing eczema and cracking.

🥗Nutritional deficiencies: Vitamin deficiencies can lead to dry, itchy skin that does not heal as quickly as healthy skin.

🧴Treatment:- you can apply Humectants (glycerine ,urea) , Occlusives (bee wax, mineral oil), Emollients, Emollients like lanolin and propylene glycol linoleate act as lubricants that fill in the crevices between skin cells.

Home remedies to keep skin moisturized , you can apply olive oil, coconut oil, Avocado oil, Oat Oil, almond oil etc.

WHY is dried fruit more caloric than fresh one?

Due to the lack of water.

Caloric value is the number of calories produced by digesting a certain amount (usually 100 g) of the product. Fruit loses up to 80% of its original weight when dried. But the water that evaporates from them has zero calories.

It turns out that 100 g of dried fruit contains the same number of calories as 500 g of fresh one, from which it was made, that is, the dried fruit is five times more caloric.

WHY is the brown rice consider the healthiest?

The most useful is considered to be brown rice. This kind of rice differs from our habitual white one as during the processing the grains are cleaned only from the inedible husk, leaving the bran shell. But this husk contains most of the vitamins and minerals.

Still, in order to get all these vitamins, we have to be patient: brown rice takes twice as long to boil as white rice (40-45 minutes), but it is still pretty hard. Another disadvantage of brown rice is its relatively short shelf life. Brown rice contains essential oils, so it spoils rather quickly. You can extend the "life" of brown rice by storing it in the refrigerator.

Improve blood circulation in the legs

Doctors unanimously assure that if you don't monitor blood circulation in the legs, you can lead to varicose veins. Therefore, it is necessary not to miss this point.

Consider the simplest, yet effective exercise for good circulation in the legs:

In a sitting position, press your heels to the floor, lift your toes, then do the opposite. Repeat this movement 20-30 times.

It is suitable for those who suffer from cramps of the calf muscles, and just for the prevention of varicose veins and other pathologies of the legs.

🟣Causes of Kidney Stones:-

💧 Dehydration from low fluid intake is a major kidney stone cause.

🔹A high dietary intake of animal protein, pickles, salt, refined sugars, and colas and a diet rich in oxalates also increases your body’s risk of kidney stone formation. Foods high in oxalate, such as spinach, rhubarb, nuts, and chocolate, can increase the risk of kidney stones. Diets high in salt and animal protein can also contribute to their formation.

🫥 A person with a family history of kidney stones may be more likely to develop stones. Urinary tract infections, kidney disorders such as cystic kidney diseases, and certain metabolic disorders such as hyperparathyroidism are also linked to stone formation.

❤️Kidney stones are more common in people with Crohn’s disease. A person with recurrent kidney stones may be screened for such disorders.

WHY working more than 8 hours is harmful?

It was found out that over-working is bad for your health. It is even more harmful than alcohol and nicotine. Calculations have shown that a person, who works 11 hours a day, has up to a 70 percent higher chance of getting a heart attack.

Apart from heart disease, about 60 percent of those, who work overtime, are more likely to fall ill with acute respiratory infections and suffer various injuries. And the illnesses have nothing to do with the nature of the work at all.

Scientists from the University of Otago in New Zealand discovered another plague. They found that even a 10-hour working day can provoke a tendency to alcoholism. After all, the more a person works, the stronger the desire to relax. And the easiest way to do this is with alcohol.
